TV Series That Were Adopted From Movies
Sarah Michelle Gellar recently confirmed that ‘Cruel Intention’ is all set to be made as a TV show. In the movie she portrayed the character of schoolgirl Kathryn Merteuil. In the TV show, she will be playing the same role, but, now, as a married woman, who is finding her life in disarray.
The funny thing is there are more TV shows that were movies first, and were later adopted for TV.
- Fargo
This FX series by Coen brothers have significant resemblance to the movie by the same name. Though each episode seems to be telling a different story, season 1 of the show, in a sense, reenacted the interaction between Lorna Malvo and Lester Nygaard.
- Daredevil
It was originally a comic which was later made into a movie starring Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck. In the TV show, however, Charlie Cox will play the role of Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer steadfast in his aim toward fighting crime. After the success of season 1, fans are now eagerly waiting for season 2 to begin.
- Limitless
Bradley Cooper, by the grace of the mind-enhancing drug, was seen to be turning from zero to hero in no time. In the ending phase of the movie we see that he has managed to become a senator.
The ‘Limitless’ TV show was, at first, not that successful. But with each episode it started gaining positive response from audience.
- Bates Motel
Based on Alfred Hitchcock’s famous horror classic, Psycho, the show presents an epic journey of Norman and Norma to attain the ownership of the notorious motel. The show is all set to enter its fourth season.
- Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Strange but true – one of the most famous TV shows of the 2000s – ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ was primarily a full-fledged movie but, later the writer, Joss Whedon, changed his mind to opt for a TV show to fit his ideas in a better way.
