This year’s red carpets produced both winners and losers.  While some outfits were simply poor choices for the occasion, others incited many “What the hells” we hope never to see again. Here are our top picks for worst dressed celebrities of 2012.

First up, Eva Marcille and Zoe Saldana served us some nude numbers that just didn’t deliver.  Eva drowned her figure in this dowdy sequined gown at the Let The Kids Grow 2012 Inaugural Holiday Gala held at the Beverly. Meanwhile, leggy Zoe arrived at the Trevor Project’s ‘Trevor Live’ in a Lanvin Polyamide Techno-Net Dress. The crystal cap-toe pumps, also by Lanvin, were winners but the dress itself should’ve been left on the hanger.

Sherri Shepherd’s ill-fitting gown with a black bra peeking through was just wrong.  This poor choice not only made her chest the focus point, but ultimately a stop sign with nowhere for the eyes to go. When you’re this top heavy, emphasizing your bust isn’t the best way to balance the outfit.

Katy Perry was a neon nightmare at the 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards. With a green mini-skirt, neon green slime bra and open-toe pumps, was she trying to appeal to the young audience or channeling the ugly part of the 80s that she’s too young to have witnessed? She then finished the look with a long multi-coloured ponytail and bright lipstick. We’re still asking….why?
Red carpet mishaps wouldn’t be complete without Nicki Minaj. She shocked and confused many of us while attending the Grammys in Versace in a hip hop version of the Little Red Riding Hood with a Pope Jean Paul II impersonator as her date. Trick or treat, anyone?

Fergie also nabbed herself a Worst Dressed spot at the Grammys for showing up in this lacy Jean-Paul Gaultier gown and gold Neil Lane accessories. The visible underwear gave a whole new meaning to panty lines.  We don’t know what’s worse: the exaggerated lace, the black underwear or the cheesy neckline and capped sleeves.

Here’s to some better choices and memorable red carpets in 2013!
