Pitt and Jolie Team Up Again

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are once again combining their talents on a joint feature film entitled By the Sea. The Universal Pictures produced drama will have Jolie directing and costarring with her husband. The film will mark the first time the couple have appeared onscreen in a movie together since Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Pitt and Jolie are almost synonymous with onscreen love affairs. Their 2005 blockbuster, Mr. and Mrs. Smith was a hit amongst moviegoers as sparks flew between the fictional couple. As rumors swirled about the scripted romance becoming a reality, Jolie and Pitt both remained quiet on their love lives. Pitt, who was married to Friends star Jennifer Aniston during the filming of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, divorced from his wife shortly before the movie premiered and the relationship rumors began to pick up.

The affair resulted in a slew of media and fan backlash towards Jolie and Pitt with many women calling for boycotts of both of their films. The couple spent almost a year denying their relationship with Jolie even being quoted as saying she would never be with a man who cheated on his wife. However, the couple eventually admitted that they were in a relationship. Soon after they came clean about the affair, the two announced they had conceived their first child together. They now share custody over three biological and three adopted children.medium 19508465 300x221 Pitt and Jolie Team Up Again

Almost ten years later, the engaged couple, are ready to try sharing the scene once again as co-stars and co-workers. The film is rumored to be centered around a husband and wife in turmoil as they take a trip to try to save their marriage. The location for filming is in luxurious Malta, which is known for its beautiful beaches and high-end resorts.

While the Pitt and Jolie have shied away from formerly working together in the face of intense media scrutiny, several of their six biological and adopted children have made several features and cameos in their individual films. In 2014’s Maleficent, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt played a young Sleeping Beauty alongside her mother while Shiloh Jolie-Pitt had blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments in Pitt’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

By the Sea

By the Sea will mark the third film directed by Angelina Jolie. Her first film, In the Land of Blood and Honey, was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2012. Her second, highly anticipated film, Unbroken is set to premier just in time for the 2014 holiday season and is expected to earn several award nods. By the Sea will also give Jolie screenwriting credits, a first for her career.

For Brad Pitt, By the Sea, will continue a long line of dramas he has recently starred in. His next release is Fury, a World War II period piece centered around a group of allied soldiers caught up in the last days of the war. The Oscar-winning actor’s film is slated to be released in November, also in time for the holidays and award seasons.

2014 seems to be the year of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. With box offices awaiting their next individual films, fans everywhere are eagerly anticipating what a new collaboration will bring for one of the world’s most famous couples.
