When Sony’s network was hacked in April 2011, the cyber criminals managed to steal Michael Jackson’s entire catalog, worth more than $250 million. It is believed that more than 50,000 digital files have been downloaded as a result.

The King of Pop’s catalog includs his albums as well as a collection of unreleased material.

Sony Music Entertainment noticed the security breach in May “and immediately took steps to secure the site and notify authorities. As a result, the two suspects were arrested,” said Liz Young, a spokesperson for Sony.

Other artists’ music was also stolen from the system, but Sony has not confirmed which artists and how many files.
